I had seen the adverts for the Mardi Gras celebration in Los Alcazares & decided to walk up to the main road a few minutes away to watch it go by. It had been advertised at starting at 17:00 & after a pint in a pub & waiting in the street for around two hours it finally arrived.
I am not quite sure why they have the carnival on a Sunday as Mardi Gras, also called Shrove Tuesday, or Fat Tuesday, refers to the Carnival celebrations, beginning on or after the Christian feasts of the Epiphany & culminating the day before Ash Wednesday. Im sure there would be no difference closing the road on a Tuesday Evening rather than a Sunday Evening.
It was quite a short carnival consisting of several groups of dancers but there were no carnival floats which was a bit disappointing.
